Deployed by more than 10,000 companies in 50 countries, JasperReports reporting engine was originally developed as an open source application by software developer Teodor Danciu from Romania. A new company called JasperSoft has formed to invest in JasperReports and offer support, services, training and complementary commercial products for JasperReports. JasperSoft said on Wednesday that it closed an $8-million third round of funding, led by Partech International. JasperSoft is also using the extra funding to bring Teodor Danciu on board and has added another four Romanian developers to accelerate the development of features requested by customers.
