Software Park Opening in Bacau

On 18th of November, I had the chance to take part at the opening ceremony of the IT parK in Bacau. The name of the IT park is HIT Park and it’s outside Bacau (5-7 km distance) and has a surface of 10 ha. The aim of the park is to transform Bacau (situated 300km North of Bucharest in the Center-East side of Romania) in a software/outsourcing hub. The park is one the largest investment in the region, topping 7 millions EURO (funded by the EU, local autorithy and the Romanian government). One of the biggest challenges has been opening the park, yet the hardest one is still to come: if in the following months, the park will become the software hub or an office center since Bacau, has a small pool of software engineers. The local university did not have a Computer Science Faculty untill this year.
