Demand cause the wages to go up

In a press release by ANIS (Romanian Software Industry Association), Mr. Florin Talpes, president of ANIS, warned that the strong demand of software engineers/programmers can cause a lack of human resources in some areas such as Timisoara, Bucharest, Cluj and Iasi. In these areas, in 2006-2007 the average net income will raise to 700 – 1000 euro, Mr. Talpes estimated. The strong demand of programmers in the last months caused the wages to go up, so that a Junior programmer has an net income of 300 -500 euro per month, while Senior programmer in Java can go over 1200 euro. Despite the strong demand, the quality of the fresh graduates has slightly decreased in the last 5 years, mainly due to the poor university curricula which remains a bit outdated. The complete press release is here (only in Romanian).
